Quality has been a keyword for Powder-Trans ever since the company was founded in 1972. To ensure continued and constantly improved quality, we work with modern technical solutions, a state-of-the-art fleet of vehicles, extensive know-how and long experience. We always strive to fulfill our customers’ wishes and find solutions to challenges. We also want to take overall responsibility and make our customers’ everyday lives easier. Quality in our transportation also means that we do our utmost to ensure delivery reliability, keep schedules, inform our customers and cooperate with customers and partners to develop both transport, our communication and joint projects.
Our quality is also about taking responsibility for our customers, our staff and society at large. We do this through our safety and environmental work as well as our social responsibility.
Our quality work permeates the entire organization. It is reflected in the management of the company, in our strategies and visions, in commitment and communication. It is also visible in our customer focus and in our care for our employees. Quality is ultimately defined by the customer, which is why we actively listen to our customers’ expectations and needs, to constantly improve our services.
We apply all this to our working methods and processes, but we also want to offer flexibility and innovation. Through training and monitoring of working methods, we also motivate staff to continuously improve. We use data, monitoring and reporting to create an overall picture and want to be open with the results and improvement needs for our customers. A regular dialog with the customer is crucial to achieve even higher quality.
We carry out our own monitoring, but our operations are also audited according to the SQAS system, and the company has certificates in quality, safety and environmental management. For example, we are certified according to the ISO 9001 quality system, which defines international requirements for quality assurance.
Work and road safety is our first priority. The main guarantors of this is our long experience and knowledgeable staff. Our drivers receive continuous and customized training both from our own trainers and from external industry experts.
Together with our customers, we always inspect loading and unloading sites in advance where possible and carry out a risk analysis of each new loading and unloading site. Several of our customers have recognized our safety work with awards and are constantly working with us to make our joint operations even safer.
The aim is to reduce safety risks, reduce injuries and prevent accidents at work and on the road. In addition to know-how and the right attitude, this is achieved with the help of our state-of-the-art technical solutions, both in our vehicles and in our other operations. We also equip our vehicles with additional equipment that promotes safety, among other things. For example, alcolocks and cameras inside and outside the vehicles are part of this additional equipment.
We also organize external additional training to meet both national requirements and EU directives, as well as voluntary training to strengthen staff skills. In addition, we train our drivers on slippery roads to prepare them for the harsh conditions of the Nordic winter, but also in driving style, safety, environmentally friendly driving and dry bulk transportation. Most of our drivers have also completed the first aid course. Our training courses also apply to our subcontractors.
We also follow our own road safety management plan based on the ISO 39001 standard, for which we are also certified. The plan includes an assessment of the company’s safety level as well as road safety objectives, responsibilities, risk analysis, action plan and communication. The ISO 39001 standard is a road traffic safety management system for which only a few companies in Finland are certified.
Powder-Trans has long been committed to environmental issues. Achieving this requires a combination of the latest technology, the right attitude, skills and experience.
It is based on environmentally friendly technical solutions, such as a fleet made up entirely of Euro 6 vehicles, the use of alternative fuels and various technical systems for optimizing and managing transport and operations.
Thanks to our long experience in this field, the environmental impact can be further reduced. We strive to use the right vehicle combination for each transport assignment to achieve the highest possible usage of the load capacity and the lowest possible empty mileage. The driver’s driving style and environmental consideration are continuously monitored by our transport management systems, transport managers and trainers. Deviations are investigated and corrected.
Through state-of-the-art measurement and monitoring equipment, including in cooperation with our suppliers, we can ensure that, for example, vehicle tires are optimal for reduced environmental impact and increased safety and that vehicle air resistance is reduced.
In addition, we can offer transportation using only renewable biodiesel, HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), produced from 100% renewable raw materials. We are constantly evaluating other fuels and have vehicles powered by both electricity and liquid bio gas (LBG) in the fleet.
In warehouse management, we promote the recycling of packaging materials and use electric forklifts. Our sites are powered almost exclusively by renewable energy and we also have our own solar panels at the terminals.
We are also certified to ISO 14001, the world’s best-known environmental management model, which promotes investment in an organization’s level of environmental protection and good environmental management.
Alongside our commitment to quality, safety and the environment, Powder-Trans wants to be a company that takes its social responsibility both within and beyond legal requirements. We do this in several ways at several levels, within the framework of our impact on and our interaction with people, society and the environment.
We promote a good working environment and environmentally, economically and socially sustainable transport solutions. We work to promote diversity and equality and give a wide range of people the potential to succeed in the partnerships we are part of. We invest in our own employees through training, openness, dialogue and various events that benefit the work community and well-being.
We also work for the surrounding communities by acting as environmentally friendly and ethically as possible, but also concretely contributing our know-how and taking responsibility. For example, we visit schools and kindergartens to talk about road safety and how heavy traffic needs to be considered differently when moving among traffic.
In addition to our own operations, we strive to work as ethically as possible in our supply chain and in our other partnerships. We also want to act and communicate openly with society at large, with our customers, suppliers, partners, media and decision-makers.
We also work with educational institutions and other partners to promote sustainable studies in the logistics of the future, and give young people a chance to enter the industry. For several years now, we have been awarding annual scholarships to students in transport and logistics.
Powder-Trans is committed to responsible business practices and strives to promote ethical business practices. We take seriously any illegal, unethical or other activities that violate our policies. We therefore always encourage our employees, partners and other stakeholders to inform us if there is a reasonable suspicion of such activities.
