Powder-Trans is a Finnish family-owned company, founded in 1972. Over the years, the company has grown from a one-man operation to one of the largest dry bulk transportation and logistics companies in the Nordic region, and a growing player in both the Baltic States and Central Europe.
With extensive investments in quality, safety, the latest technology and environmentally conscious solutions, we are a pioneer in modern transportation solutions. Thanks to our long experience and state-of-the-art fleet, we are able to meet even the most demanding granular and powder transportation needs.

Thanks to our warehousing and logistics services, we can offer comprehensive logistics solutions for both small and large customers.
Our operations and terminals are located in Lieto outside Turku in Finland and in Sweden in Landskrona between Helsingborg and Malmö. In Eskilstuna in central Sweden we also have a transshipment terminal. In both main locations we have extensive terminal areas as well as indoor and outdoor storage facilities. Our fleet consists of 120 vehicles and almost 300 loading units and we have a staff of just over 200 people. The group’s turnover amounts to just over EUR 30 million.
Although Powder-Trans was founded in 1972, its roots go back to the 1930s. That’s when the Blomqvist family began their career in the transportation industry on Kimito Island in southwestern Finland. Almost 40 years later, Carl-Johan Blomqvist founded what would become today’s Powder-Trans.
Shortly after its inception, the company focused on bulk transportation, which many road users and colleagues at the time saw as a novelty that would not last long. Most of the goods were still transported on flatbed trucks.
In 1982, ten years after its inception, Powder-Trans’ first shipment goes to Sweden. Another ten years later, the company has 12 vehicles. The 1990s are economically turbulent in Finland, but Powder-Trans is doing well and growing fast.
At the turn of the millennium, the company has 34 vehicles and moves its operations to Turku, closer to the ferry service to Sweden. Already in 2002, Powder-Trans is one of the first in Finland to introduce GPS-guided vehicle monitoring.
A few years later, Powder-Trans acquires several Finnish transport companies and grows rapidly. In 2009, a subsidiary is founded in Sweden. In 2010, Carl-Johan’s sons Christian and Fredrik take over the operational business. Powder-Trans now has 73 vehicles and has already entered the market throughout the Nordic region as well as the Baltic States, Russia and Central Europe.
In 2012, the office and terminal in Lieto outside Turku are opened. Two years later, Powder-Trans becomes a partner in the Swedish bulk logistics company BulkTeam. At the same time, the company puts into service the first 76-ton vehicle combinations for larger and optimized loads. Just five years later, Powder-Trans acquires the entire BulkTeam. The company is also starting to expand its warehousing services.
In the 2020s, growth continues despite the pandemic and an also otherwise turbulent world economy. BulkTeam becomes Powder-Trans Sweden and Powder-Trans grows both in traffic in Central Europe and in warehousing and transshipment services. The company continues to invest in new technologies, environmentally friendly solutions and efficient, high-quality transportation.
By 2030, Powder-Trans will be the leading dry bulk transportation company in the Nordic region. Powder-Trans will be the first choice for customers and employees, with a first-class credit rating from international credit rating agencies.
